Changes

She boarded the bus. The same bus that she takes everyday to school, then to work and then back home. The same routine every single day, repeating over and over like a broken record. Normally, one would tire of such a mundane and never changing routine, but she didn’t. This routine was what kept her functioning, it was what kept her sane. After all the bad, all the horrible and all the negative things in her life, in her past, her routine was what kept her grounded.

It wasn’t always like this you know, she was normal... happy once but she isn’t anymore. She sits in the same spot, looks out the same window, staring at the same passing view just like any other day. No music, no colour just a soft hum in her ears and a coat of dull grey overcasting her vision like any other day.

Just one thing was different today… one thing unlike any other day. What was it though? Was it the music blasting from another… Was it the chatter of people behind her… Was it the scene of the elderly couple in front of her? It was none of those things though so what was different today?
Oh… I see… I know what’s so different today…
If you could see the spark in her once dull eyes, you’d know what was different...
If you could see the smile on her once dimmed face, you’d know what was different…
You’d just know….
